TRU by Hilton Nearing End of Construction in Tahlequah

A new twist on the traditional hotel is being built as a part of the Cherokee Springs Plaza in southern Tahlequah. TRU by Hilton is a modern and sleek take on the boring and stuffy hotel experience offering clean and simple rooms, welcoming lobby and lounge areas, and over-the-top service to accommodate the tastes of business and pleasure travelers alike. We took a tour of the new TRU while it was under construction;

Simple and Efficient Rooms

The room design in the TRU by Hilton king room that we toured with General Manager Traci Huggins is simple and efficient with no wasted space on clunky closets, massive entertainment centers, and complicated appliances. Each room is equipped with a small mini-fridge, a large TV, and USB charging ports everywhere. Seriously, this hotel has more USB ports than I have ever seen in a single structure.

The hotel will also have two handicap accessible rooms per floor for a total of eight and each has a modified layout to make getting around your room easy and simple.

Fun and Inviting Lobby

The design of the TRU lobby is very refreshing compared to a typical hotel. The concept becomes very clear when you walk into the space, a concept of community. Every aspect of the lobby and business center is built around getting work done and socializing with fellow travelers. Open and modern work tables abound throughout the lobby for those traveling in a group and noise-canceling "cubbies" are available if you need to zone out and relax or get some work done in private.

The kitchen surrounding the check-in desk offers food and drink options throughout the day, a hot breakfast bar with over thirty-five toppings, and single-serve beer and wine portions.

Work Hard, Play Hard

Once you are done with your meetings and work for the day, TRU has created some great spaces for working out and relaxing. Enjoy a clean and functional work out area complete with traditional machines such as treadmills and ellipticals as well as resistance and body-weight training equipment such as balance balls and kettle bells.

The outdoor area is truly a relaxing environment with an outdoor fire-pit, dog walk area, and the rumor mill has it that lawn games like corn hole will be available. A saltwater pool completes the outdoor space and gives guests a fun and relaxing experience to beat the heat during the Oklahoma summer.

TRU by Hilton is bound to be a fantastic addition to the lodging options available in the Tahlequah area. We are excited for their doors to officially open in November and until then you can follow along on the construction progress on their Facebook Page.
