The Cherokee Nation Holiday is a beloved Tahlequah event celebrating the history, heritage, and future of the Cherokee Nation that normally takes place during Labor Day Weekend in Tahlequah. Due to COVID-19, the bulk of activities have moved to a virtual format.

Virtual Powwow

Participants of any tribal affiliation are encouraged to submit their dance videos to Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter and tag @CherokeeNationalHoliday. All of the contest rules, categories, and prizes can be seen online at the Cherokee National Holiday Website.

Virtual Car Show

Participants of the Virtual Car Show can record a video of the interior and exterior of their rides and submit those on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook and should include #CNHCarShow2020. The car show is open to the public and participants do not have to be tribally affiliated to participate.

For more information about the Cherokee National Holiday, visit their website. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for continued coverage of events happening in Tahlequah.

We floated with Sparrow Hawk in July 2020 and this is a report of our experience.
