Sparrow Hawk Primitive Area

Sparrow Hawk Primitive Area Trail is a 3.8 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail that features a river and is rated as moderate. It sports some of the most beautiful views in northeastern Oklahoma. There are several adjoining trails off of the main one.

You need an Oklahoma hunting license, fishing license, or wildlife passport to enter the trail. Overnight camping is not permitted. ​

Welling Ridge Trails

Welling Ridge Trails, located in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, offer a scenic and invigorating hiking experience. The trails are well-maintained and suitable for various skill levels, offering both beginners and experienced hikers a chance to enjoy nature. J.T. Nickels Preserve

There are three self-guided nature trails at the preserve ranging from .5 to 1.5 miles. The trails showcase some of the most well preserved landscapes in the Ozarks and offer good chances of seeing wildlife including deer, turkey and elk.
