Gena's Morning AdventuresIt might seem like a really weird time of year to go history hunting...…but to history nuts, like myself, there is NEVER a weird time! On this cold and dreary winter afternoon, I decided to drag a friend along and head down the back roads, hoping to find some hidden gem that could transport our imaginations back in time!
Singing along to good ole country songs, and skidding through mud puddles, I almost missed this "two-part" (the cemetery is separated into two parts, divided by fences and a parking space) cemetery! Screeching to a halt and kicking the gears into reverse, I backed up and found a nice place to park! Immediately, I could tell this cemetery was going to be overflowing with history and BIG NAMES of the past! These headstones told so many stories! Many Native Americans, that rest here, were survivors from the brutal Trail of Tears. There are also numerous veterans and survivors from the turn of the century! So many brave pioneers have found their final resting place right here, among the tall hills and open valleys. If only I could go back in time, sit around an open campfire with these brave souls, and soak in all of the stories of the past...
