The Illinois River in Tahlequah OK is a great place to get away for a day and enjoy some time with your family or friends. You can choose from plenty of options such as rafting or kayaking. Everyone loves food and sometimes we don’t want to go through the hassle of cooking our own food when we are vacationing. Lucky for you we compiled a list of some of our favorite places on the river to sit back and enjoy a bite to eat, hassle free and tasty as ever.
1. Donna’s Food Barn
Located on the corner of highway 10 and Steely Hollow Rd, Donna's food barn is a great place to stop by and grab a bite to eat on your way to float the river. The barn serves up your favorite american dishes such as burgers and fries and frito chili pie. You can also find some specialty food such as Indian Tacos or Philly Cheese Steak. Before you leave, grab a sno-cone to cool you off! You can visit their Facebook here to check them out in more depth.

2. Diamondhead Gravel Bar
Music, cold drinks and good company, what more can you ask for? Diamondhead has a bar and grill and it’s definitely worth stopping in. Located on highway 10 along the Illinois River you can get food from burgers to wings and even deep fried pickles! Grab a beer from their selection, kick back and enjoy some live music at Diamondhead Resort! Visit their website for more info!

3. Moe’s BBQ
When it comes to Barbecue, Moe’s is the real deal. This little gem is the only spot you can get BBQ out on the river so if that’s what you are looking for then you have found the place! Whether you're craving breakfast or lunch they have you covered! You can also order in bulk here, so it’s perfect for parties or full campsites! You can stop here for a bite to eat and then take a float trip with the adjacent float operator War Eagle. Do yourself a favor and add this to your day trip, you won’t regret it! Here’s a link to their facebook page.

4. T&J’s Snack Shack
You can find T&J’s nestled in the Hanging Rock camp on the Illinois River. You can find an array of different foods as TJ loves to exercise his creativity to bring tasty dishes to life. Some of his dishes include fish tacos, specialty nachos, and the famous pepper bacon burger. If you are bringing your family to camp at Hanging Rock, be sure to drop in for lunch or dinner! Contact them for more info!

5. Treetops Grill
Have you ever wanted to eat delicious food in a treehouse? Do you love the outdoors? Treetops gives you an awesome experience with your common grill food such as burgers and fries, fried pickles and chili dogs. If you are craving breakfast they can cook you up an omelette as well. Head over to Eagle Bluff and eat at the Treetop grill, grab a kayak, cold drink, and enjoy a day on the Illinois.

The Illinois river is always a good time and we are sure with this list and some exploration you can find something you love!!
