We all know that sometimes nature just takes it course. Not too long ago we had some serious rain storms come through and our beautiful Lake Tenkiller was flooded and accumulated a lot of trash! Lake Tenkiller is a popular place for boating, fishing, and diving. Over here at Tour Tahlequah we realized that we needed to do something about it so we took action! In August GTAA's Clean Up Committee held their first event.....Tidy Up Tenkiller. The event had great response and the numbers reflected that
The final results rolled in as:
- Roll off dumpsters weighed in with 27.6 tons/55,200 lbs. of debris
- 200 tires @ 25 lbs. each = 5,000 lbs collected and removed
- 1,024 30 gal. bags @ 5 lbs. each collected on land = 5,120 lbs of debris
Total debris collected: 65,302 lbs./408 lbs. per volunteer over 3 days removed from the lake!
The community decided, due to the overwhelming success, they would do it again! Tidy up Tenkiller round 2!
Fall clean up is going to be at Chicken Creek & the surrounding area.......and ALSO......Snake Creek Island!
